What is your whisper policy?
As part of our commitment to the evolution of your well-being, we ask you our valued Guest to respect our whisper policy while taking part in the Water Journey. We intentionally wove silence into the curation of the Water Journey in order for you to fully benefit from the rejuvenating effect. Please respect this space by whispering when needed. We encourage you to use this contemplative opportunity to explore the benefits you experience when you journey inwards. As Lao Tzu so concisely stated “Silence is a source of great strength.”

Where did the name “the bodhi spa” come from?
Bodhi in Buddhism is the understanding possessed by a Buddha regarding the true nature of things. It is traditionally translated into English with the word enlightenment, though its literal meaning is closer to “awakened.”
Bodhi was also the tree under which Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher later known as Gautama Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment. In religious iconography, the bodhi tree is recognizable by its heart-shaped leaves, which are usually prominently displayed. Bodhi trees are planted in close proximity to every Buddhist monastery, and we have a few in our spa!
Is there an age requirement?
Spa guests must be 16 years of age or older to use the Water Journey space or to receive treatments without the approval or accompaniment of an adult.

Drugs and alcohol of any kind are absolutely prohibited in the Water Journey, due to their combined effects of dehydration on the body. To compliment your experience, we recommend The Power of Juice which can be ordered and delivered to the spa during your visit https://thepowerofjuice.com/

What are “Dead Sea” salts?
The Dead Sea is technically a lake, and is known as the lowest point on earth. It has been recognized for centuries as a center for wellness and health, thanks to the low air pollution and temperate climate.
The salts found in the Dead Sea are mineral salts. All ocean salt contains minerals, but the salts of the Dead Sea are more concentrated. Minerals include zinc, iodine, potassium, calcium, bromides, and many more. These minerals are naturally occurring in the human body and are crucial to many processes, and need to be replenished regularly as they are lost.

How does the Water Journey work?
The action of heat: dilates blood vessels, causing more blood to circulate near the surface of your skin. This action bathes cells in oxygen-rich blood and allows a small amount of toxins to be released through the skin. The action of cold: constricts your capillaries, and shunts the blood to the core. It is here that the majority of toxins are removed as the blood filters through the internal organs. The blood is then replenished with fresh oxygen and pumped back to the rest of the body to begin the ongoing cycle. The process of stimulating the circulatory system with hot and cold, detoxifies and bathes your cells in fresh oxygen-rich blood; bringing youthfulness to your mind and body.

When can I receive a massage at the bodhi spa if I am pregnant?
The first trimester carries an increased risk of complications to expectant mothers. There are pressure points in the body that are thought to initiate contractions or potentially induce labor. In addition, it is difficult to assess a client without their full maternal medical history. For these reasons we don’t offer massages in the first trimester.
